- MAPS - TERRITORY - |
Aragón is located in the Iberian Peninsula; to the northeast of the same one; immediately to the south of the Pyrenees. The capitalidad of the Autonomic Community shows Zaragoza; and Huesca and Teruel, those of its respective provincial divisions. The inferior map, represents the territorial division of Aragón, contemplating the present structuring by regions. Cliking it, it is acceded to extension of the studied territory.
The romanesque monuments that I include in my page locate in the regions between numbers 1 and 11, both inclusively; and that corresponds to the province of Huesca, with the exception of number 5; that it is the region of the "Cinco Villas", pertaining to the province of Zaragoza; although by his situation it has geographic and cultural continuity with Huesca as far as concerns the Romanesque Art.
Sometimes, antígua "region" is no coincidence between the denomination, understood like geographic location of aconteceres medieval; and the present administrative parcelación; that as any political regulation is put under changes.
It takes in some cases to situations of location of a population in present historical section different from the administrative one. I request excuses in advance and I hope not to hurt local susceptibilities.
I already aim in the beginning page, that I follow the scheme of Cayetano Enriquez de Salamanca, because it seems to me suitable to follow routes tourist, even though are discordancias as above indicated.

In the Romanesque Art of the Altoaragón, the Central European currents are reflected that extended throughout all the Way of Santiago; denominated "french Romanesque"; as well as "lombardo Romanesque" more frequent at the most to the east, and preponderant in the neighboring community of Catalonia. In addition, "endemísmos" with own personality, like the "Romanesque of the Gállego".Once again, Aragón as crossing of communication routes that are, is outlined like crucible of styles. Outside our community it is rare to find coexistence of these pointed styles.
